Buying property in Austria

The purchase of Austrian real estate is fairly straight forward and we can assist with all aspects as required. Moving to austria for those who want more than a holiday home is more involved and we are happy to help with any questions you may have.

1) AGREE THE SALE

2) SOLICITORS
Instruct your solicitor and provide them with the funds to carry out the local search. You can inform them of your desired time scale. If you do not have a solicitor we will be only too happy to help.

3) SELLING AND BUYING?
If you are selling, provide your solicitor with the information regarding your title deeds, together with details of your lender.

4) FINANCE/MORTGAGE
Complete your mortgage applications, if required, and instruct a surveyor. If you are selling you should expect to receive paperwork about your pre-contract enquiries and fixtures/fittings list, from your solicitors. Complete and return the literature to your solicitor.

5) SURVEY
Once you have received your survey/mortgage offer, notify Austrian Retreats and your solicitor of it’s contents.

6) CONTRACTS
Expect to receive a ‘Report on Title’, from your solicitors, together with your contracts. Sign them and arrange an appointment to meet with your solicitor providing them with your deposit monies and confi rmation of your preferred moving dates.

7) DEPOSIT
Deposit monies should be cleared funds (i.e. bankers draft) as a personal cheque can take up to 5 days to clear and could delay your move.

8) LEGALLY BINDING
Your solicitor will notify you once you have exchanged contracts. You will need to make the necessary arrangements to transport your possessions to your new
destination on your moving day.

9) COMPLETION DAY (MOVING DAY)
